Water Pump

What is the part that needs repair, and what does it do?

The water pump in your car circulates water and coolant around the engine to cool it as it heats up from producing power.

How did this part get damaged or worn on my car?  What is wrong with it?

Over time water pumps will often begin to leak, decreasing the effectiveness of the cooling system.

What other problems can this issue cause?

Parts of your engine that are hotter than usual degrade faster – especially softer parts like belts and plastic. This means you’ll have to replace them sooner, at a much higher cost than just replacing your water pump. Since water pumps in VWs typically degrade at a similar rate to timing belts, we recommend replacing them in the same visit.
